FAQ¶
Can I use Logbook?
Not as a service. Logbook is built for one person and runs as a private app with its own database, so there's no account to sign up for. This site exists to show how it works and what it's like to use. If you'd like something similar, or have ideas, email john@stetter.io.
Is there an app to download?
It's a web app, so it works in any modern browser. On a phone, Add to Home Screen (Safari's share menu, or Chrome's menu) opens it full-screen like an app.
What's the difference between a note and an intervention?
An intervention is something you did (stretching, heat, a breathing exercise, medication), picked from a list so it can be counted and compared in the stats and the report. A note is free text: context, triggers, how it felt. Both appear on the event's timeline with a time.
Why do some events resolve themselves?
Some things are moments, not episodes. A bowel movement or a passing observation has no "end", so those types are saved already resolved. Each event type can be set either way.
Why does the intervention list change between event types?
Interventions can be scoped to the event types they belong to, so a muscle spasm offers stretching and heat while anxiety offers grounding and breathing. General ones like Rest, and medications, show up everywhere.
What does the report include?
For the date range you pick (90 days by default): a cover, a summary (total events, active days, events per category, average severity per type), a section per event type with a severity trend, a body-location heatmap and the most used interventions, and every note in date order. Print it or save it as a PDF from the browser.
Does the intervention chart show what works?
It shows what tended to go together: the average severity of events where each intervention was used. That's a useful starting point for a conversation with a care team, but it isn't a controlled comparison.
Does it work offline?
Partly. Logging works: an event logged without a connection is queued on the device and sent when the connection comes back, and a badge shows how many are waiting. Browsing history, stats and reports need a connection.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. History → Export CSV downloads whatever the current filters show, and the report saves as a PDF.
Does it have dark mode?
Yes. It follows your device setting the first time, and the toggle in the header remembers your choice. This site does the same, and its screenshots switch with it.
